Ruth Claflin, age 65, of Bartlett, Texas, formerly of Laredo, Texas, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 17, 2004. She was born June 5, 1939 in Laredo, Texas to parents Shannon Thomas Peterson and Margaret Emily (Ward) Peterson. She was a 1956 graduate of Martin High School in Laredo. Ruth married Marvin Claflin on November 7, 1956 in Laredo. She was a long time racehorse trainer. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and working with horses.

She is survived by her husband. Marvin Clafin of Bartlett, Texas; son, Marvin Claflin, Jr. and wife Jane of Lake Conroe, Texas; daughter, Heather Holt and husband Tom of Round Rock, Texas; four grandchildren, Shannon and Haley Holt both of Round Rock, Texas, Sarah Page of Cleveland, Texas and Laurie Jo Thompson of Conroe, Texas; and sister, Sharyn Jordan of Laredo, Texas.

The family will receive guests for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2004 at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home.
