THBPA President Jim Helzer to AQHA Executive Committee

James E. Helzer, who owns and breeds Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses as the owner of JEH Stallion Station near Pilot Point, Texas, recently was elected to the American Quarter Horse Association’s executive committee during the group’s 2005 convention in St. Louis, Missouri.

A member and past director of the Texas Thoroughbred Association, Helzer currently serves on the board of the Texas Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association as its president and as a member of the Texas Horsemen’s Partnership management committee.

Helzer is president and vice chairman of the board of Eagle Supply Group Inc., a Mansfield, Texas-based drywall, masonry and roofing material distributor. He and his wife, Marilyn, established JEH Stallion Station in 1994 in Frisco before relocating to its present location.

In 2003, JEH Stallion Station was renamed JEH Stallion Station East, and a newly created JEH Stallion Station West was established in Hondo, New Mexico, in partnership with R. D. Hubbard, a Thoroughbred owner-breeder and former owner of Hollywood Park.

Helzer, who stands several Thoroughbred stallions at JEH Stallion Station, has multiple stakes winner Wooden Phone, winner of the 2001 Strub Stakes (G2), whom he co-owned with Tom Durant.
