Changes Horsemen Need to Be Aware of as Retama Moves to Wednesday Through Saturday Race Week

Beginning this week and continuing through the end of its current Thoroughbred meet, which concludes on October 15, Retama Park will shift its race week to Wednesdays through Saturdays. As a result, there are several changes of which horsemen need to be aware:

1. New Entry Schedule:

  • Enter Saturday for Wednesday races
  • Enter Tuesday for Thursday races
  • Enter Wednesday for Friday races
  • Enter Thursday for Saturday races

2. New Racing Office Hours:

  • Closed Sundays
  • Monday and Tuesday - 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday through Saturday - 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. until the last race

3. The track will be closed for training on Sundays for the remainder of the meet. It will be open for training Mondays through Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The break will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. each day.

4. Quarter horses may work out on Mondays and Tuesdays after the break.

5. The state veterinarian will be available on Friday mornings only to work horses for removal from the vet's list. Please contact the Test barn by the running of the last race Thursday night for an appointment.

6. Starting gate hours:

  • No starting gate on Sunday or Monday
  • Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
