Sam Houston Race Park has cancelled live racing events for Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9, 2010, due to inclement weather, frozen track conditions and on-going freezing temperatures. Sam Houston Race Park Idol singing contest, which was scheduled to begin on Jaunary 8 at 7:00 p.m., will be rescheduled for Friday, January 15. The contest dates will be January 15 & 22 for qualifying rounds and January 29 for the finals. Simulcast operations will continue as scheduled on Friday evening.

“The safety of our horses and jockeys, along with our staff and patrons are at the forefront of our decision to cancel live racing events for this evening,” said President and Chief Operating Officer Andrea Young.

The Park als cancelled training sessions for Saturday morning. The Park will continue to evaluate weather and track conditions over the weekend.
