Food Lovers Invited to Participate in a Chef's Table at Sam Houston Race Park

Sam Houston Race Park will launch an exclusive Chef’s Table dining experience in the Winner’s Circle Restaurant, Houston’s largest restaurant, featuring a special seven-course menu prepared by Executive Chef Hugo Gomez, paired with four wine tastings, along with a personalized fan education program to explain the basics of reading the live racing program and placing basic wagers, private wagering teller and live racing action for the evening, beginning Saturday, March 27.

Participants will have the opportunity to converse with Chef Hugo throughout the night as he walks guests through the menu and wine pairings, as well as shares stories about his culinary career and his Argentinean roots and influences. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to participate in an informal Wagering 101 fan program, presented tableside by the Player’s Services department, which includes a free tip sheet and live racing program for the evening.
The evening will culminate with a tour of the announcer’s booth where they will watch as track announcer Tom Harris calls a race, as well as a trip to the winner’s circle to catch the ninth race from the finish line and take a souvenir photo with the winning horse and jockey.

“This is truly a unique dining experience for food lovers who are looking for a more interactive dining experience,” said Chef Gomez. “Not only will guests learn more about the traditions and heritage that I bring to the menu, they will have a unique backdrop featuring a hands-on tour of our live racing product. It is by far one of the most exciting Chef’s Table events in town!”

Executive Chef Hugo Gomez has been with The Park since May 2009, during which time he has elevated the quality of the menu by infusing his twist on traditional items with new flavors and the flare of his international heritage. Prior to joining The Park, Gomez served as Executive Chef for Hotel Derek, one of Houston’s top boutique hotels and the popular dining destination Bistro Moderne. He also served as Banquet Sous Chef for InterContinental Hotel and Banquet Kitchen Manager for the Hilton-Americas Hotel, the largest convention hotel in the city, where he specialized in designing and preparing menus for weddings, galas, large conferences and special events. Gomez received his culinary training from the Art Institute of Houston.
