Record Superfecta Payout at Sam Houston Race Park on February 17

Sam Houston Race Park announced this week that it would introduce ten-cent superfectas, and racing fans willing to include some longshots were rewarded handsomely. In the ninth race on Thursday, February 17 - the first night the Houston track offered ten-cent superfectas - a record superfecta payout of $186,686 resulted when longshot Senor Guapo ($99), a 3-year-old Texas-bred trained by John Locke, won the six-furlong maiden event. Spearsville ran second, Capote's Bar was third, and there was a dead-heat for the fourth spot between heavy post-time favorite, Nekoda Gold and Rollmeaseven.

The ten-cent superfecta for 11-9-2-5 paid $9,334 and the ten-cent payout for 11-9-2-12 returned $4,667.

The ten-cent superfectas are offered on all races at SHRP with at least seven betting interests.
