Sam Houston Race Park is proud to host one of the most exciting weekends of the summer Quarter Horse meeting on July 29 & 30 when the northwest Houston track’s Texas Summer Showdown will feature four stakes races, with purses of $140,000 on Friday, July 29. Texas country artist, Kevin Fowler will perform live following racing in the Bud Light Texas Music Explosion concert series. The weekend also includes the annual TQHA Yearling Sale, with 355 yearlings set to pass through the sales ring on Friday, July 29 and continue on Saturday, July 30.

The TQHA Yearling Sale, which begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, has produced many American Quarter Horse racing champions, including 2003 World Champion, Oak Tree Special and Azoom, who was honored as Sam Houston Race Park Horse of the Meeting in 2004.

Sam Houston Race Park will also present an Equine Expo featuring a diverse array of exhibitors displaying equine merchandise, services and products. The Expo will operate both Friday and Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
