TTHBPA Board Meets, Appoints Nominating Committee for Election

(Austin, Texas - October 19, 2010) - The Texas Thoroughbred HBPA, Inc.’s Board of Directors held a scheduled meeting at Retama Park today.

Bryan Brown, CEO of Retama Park, addressed the Board with encouraging news about the current meet, which concludes this weekend with the running of the La Senorita and El Joven stakes races.  Live handle so far for the meet is up 50% over last year’s meet, and attendance is up approximately 36%. Unfortunately, despite full fields and an extra race on the daily cards, export signal handle is down over 20%.

The TTHBPA Board unanimously approved proposed revisions to the organization’s bylaws. Once the bylaws have been updated, the revised version will become available on the THP website.

In addition the Board voted unanimously to approve the draft of the video lottery terminal (VLT) legislative bill that was recently received from the legislative council.  This vote places the TTHBPA in full support of the bill draft, along with all of the other member organizations of Texas H.O.R.S.E.

TTHBPA President Jan Haynes appointed three members of her Board to serve as the Nomination Committee for the upcoming 2011 Board of Directors election. If you are interested in serving or know of a qualified Thoroughbred horseman or woman who would like to be considered for placement on the ballot, please contact one of the nomination committee members:
