| Retama Park and Gillespie County Fairgrounds 
      Meets Open This Month  
       Retama Park near San Antonio will open its 2004 Thoroughbred meet on 
        Friday, July 23. The annual Gillespie County Fairgrounds mixed meet in 
        Fredericksburg will open on Saturday, July 3. 
      Racing will be conducted at the Gillespie County Fair meet on the following 
        weekends: July 3 & 4, July 17 & 18, August 14 & 15, and August 
        28 & 29. First post each race day will be 1:00 p.m. 
      Racing at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds will feature a full slate 
        of Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, and special races and trials for the 2004 
        Gillespie County Fair Futurity. 
      Admission for live racing is $4 for adults (except during the 116th County 
        Fair on August 26-29, when they are $5), $1 for children 6 to 12 years 
        of age and free for children under 6. Reserve seats are $7 and box seats 
        are $9. MasterCard and Visa are accepted. For more information, contact

      Retama Park's 2004 Thoroughbred meet will run from Friday, July 23 through 
        Saturday, September 25. Racing during the 10-week meet will be conducted 
        on Thursdays through Sundays, with first post time each day of 6:45 p.m. 
      Among the meet's highlights will be the $100,000-guaranteed Ketel One 
        El Jovan Stakes for 2-year-olds and the $100,000-guaranteed Senorita Stakes 
        for 2-year-old fillies (both races on the grass) on September 4, the $100,000 
        Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame for Texas-bred 3-year-olds and up on September 
        18, and two divisions of the $125,000-guaranteed Texas Stallion Stakes 
        on September 18 - one division for 2-year-old males and one for 2-year-old 
        fillies.
