Miss Kips Streakin is Fastest Qualifier for $30,000 Merial Distaff

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, September 18, 2010) - Gerardo Luna’s Miss Kips Streakin, trained by Erika Huitron and ridden by Santos Carrizales, was the fastest of 10 qualifiers in Saturday night’s trials for The $30,000 Merial Distaff Challenge for fillies & mares, three years old and up, which will be run at Lone Star Park on Saturday, Oct. 2.

In the second of the two trials, Miss Kips Streakin covered the 400-yard distance in 19.912 seconds to earn a Speed Index of 90. Jorge Haddad’s La Jolla Suspect, who finished a head behind the fastest qualifier in their heat, was the second fastest with a time of 19.936 seconds.

The winner of the first trial, Randy & Sandy Coleman’s Ms Athenas Dividend qualified with the third-fastest time overall, 19.953 seconds.
