Marys Coronitas the Top Qualifier for Upcoming $187,800 Grade 2, Dash For Cash Derby at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, September 25, 2015) - The field is now set for the 18th running of the $187,800 Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby to be held Saturday, October 10 at 440 yards. The top 10 horses with the fastest times tonight advance to the final.

Marys Coronitas, bred, owned and trained by Jorge Mendoza, clocked the 440 yard distance tonight in :21.422 seconds over a fast track, earning a guaranteed spot in the Derby final. A filly by Corona Cartel, she is out of the mare Inbetween Dances, by Runaway Winner. This was her fourth win from 13 career starts.

In the sixth race tonight, taking the lead by nearly a length just a few jumps out of the gate, Marys Coronitas had the others put away. She gave an impressive performance under the guidance of jockey Juan Francisco, Jr. and earned a speed index of 95.
