Sixes Streak In Time In Grade 1, $414,045 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 8, 2011) - Sixes Streak, owned by Jerry Windham and trained by Heath Taylor, proved best in the 14th running of the Grade 1, $414,045 Dash for Cash Futurity over a fast-sealed track at Lone Star Park Saturday night.

With G.R. Carter, Jr., aboard, the bay Texas-bred son of Streakin Sixes, out of the First Down Dash mare First Down Sixes, called upon all of his determination in registering a head victory over John the Banker. The final time for the 400 yards distance was 19.404, earning a speed index of 102. Texasindependencegal finished another head back in third.

“I want to thank the whole Windham team, and G.R. for a great, great ride,” said winning trainer Heath Taylor. “One person I do want to acknowledge and dedicate this win is Jacky Martin, he helped me all summer and did a great job with this horse. I think him and G.R. are as good as any two that ever put a set of boots on.”

With the victory, Sixes Streak improved his race record to five wins from seven starts and the $165,619 winner’s share of the purse increased his career earnings to $177,249.

Sixes Streak paid $4.40, $4.00, $3.40; runner-up John the Banker paid $9.00, $7.40; and Texasindependencegal paid $3.60 for show. Algorithmic, Zenergy, Sumokin, Executive Miss Dash, Get Gone Gol and Stirring It Up completed the order of finish.

30-1 Wagon to Hollywood Stars in Grade 2, $153,300 Dash For Cash Derby

Wagon to Hollywood, owned by Narciso Flores and trained by Heath Taylor, played the role of spoiler in the 14th running of the Grade 2, $153,300 Dash for Cash Derby over a fast-sealed track at Lone Star Park Saturday night.

With Jarrod Deschamp in the irons, the brown Texas-bred son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Hollywood La Jolla, was alert from the gate and held on to record a nose decision over Zoomandkicken at odds of 30-1. The final time for the 440 yards distance was 21.182, setting a new stakes record and earning a speed index of 103. Race favorite, Eyes Blew by You finished a half-length behind in third.

“He ran in a fast trial and trained super between trials and finals,” said winning trainer Heath Taylor. “I really can’t explain the odds, looking at the program I thought he was a five or six-to-one shot and had a really good chance to light the board.”

With his first win in a graded stakes, Wagon to Hollywood improved his career record to four wins from 10 starts and increased his lifetime earnings to $104,739 with the $61,320 winner’s share. It was the third win in the Dash for Cash Derby for trainer Heath Taylor, Swingin Jess (2008) and Jess a Little Bit More (2007).

Wagon to Hollywood paid $65.80, $28.60, $9.60; runner-up Zoomandkicken returned $4.20, $2.60; and Eyes Blew by You paid $2.60 to show. Texas Icon, Run Naked, Cocopata, Freighttrain B, Down Rite Royal, Kool County Man and Jess Scared money completed the order of finish.

Pink Cartel Scores Upset in $46,005 Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes

Bullard Farms’ Pink Cartel, dismissed at odds of 18-1, pulled off a thrilling upset in the 8th running of the $46,005 Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes Saturday night.

Ridden by Russel Hadley and trained by John Buchanan, the gray daughter of Jet Cartel battled Cypress City in deep stretch to prevail by three-quarters of a length, stopping the teletimer in 19.563 to earn a speed index of 97. Cypress City finished second, another three-quarters of a length in front of Toby Tells No Lies in third.

“She kind of cruised down through there,” said winning rider Russel Hadley. “Bullard (Farms) does a good job with their horses. We had a game plan and it worked.”

With the win, Texas-bred Pink Cartel improved her race record to two wins from four starts. The $11,501 winner’s share of the purse increased her lifetime earnings to $15,881.

Pink Cartel paid $38.40, $10.60, $6.80. Cypress City returned $4.20, $4.00. Toby Tells No Lies paid $8.00 for the show.

A stewards’ inquiry, which did not involve the top finishers, saw Winning On My Mind disqualified from seventh and placed tenth for interference to Jump Down Azoom at the start. Completing the official order of finish were Benchmarkzoom, Bv Eye Am First, Classic Wagon, Evans Express, Hiclass Heat, Jump Down Azoom and Winning On My Mind.
