Eight Meet Up in $20,000 B. F. Phillips, Jr. Stakes (RG3) at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, October 26, 2012) - Saturday night's 14th running of the $20,000 guaranteed, B. F. Phillips, Jr. Stakes, (RG3) for accredited Texas-breds, three-year-olds and upward, going 400 yards, seems almost like a re-match of the Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap here earlier this meet, on September 22. The top five finishers of that race will take on each other again along with three others.

Track odds maker Rick Lee has made First Klas Fred, owned by Denis & Julie Schoenhofer and trained by R. L. Rick Robinson, slight favorite, at 5-2. The five-year-old gelding by Fredricksburg, not only won this year's Classic Chevrolet, he won the race in 2011 as well. First Klas Fred has six wins, two seconds and four thirds from 24 lifetime starts and has bankrolled $554,133 in career earnings. Jockey Luis Vivanco will have the riding assignment.

Completing the exacta in the Classic Chevrolet was Bennie & Terri Jeter's Executive Prince.
Since finishing fifth in last year's Texas Classic Derby, the Judd Kearl trainee has one win, the Live Oak Handicap at Retama park on August 10, and two second place finishes, TQHA Sires Cup Stakes at Retama June 30, and in here in September's Classic Chevrolet. The four-year-old gelding by Executive Menace has $72,189 in lifetime earnings from his record of 19-4-6-1.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Nowurtalkin (Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo, 8-1); Sparrow Contender (Santos Carrizales, 12-1); Acorn (Luis Ramirez, 8-1); The Field Cricket (Jerry Lee Yoakum, 9-2); Sunny D (Jose Amador Alvarez, 5-1); First Klas Fred (Luis L. Vivanco, 5-2); Jessa Kool Perry (Eddi Emanuel Martinez, 30-1) and Executive Prince (Francisco Calderon, 3-1).
