Grade 1, $94,700 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Featured Saturday at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, October 28, 2016) - The 11th running of the Grade 1, $94,700 Guaranteed Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity will headline the 10 race card this Saturday, October 29. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First Race post time is 6:35 p.m.

The Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity is the third and final leg of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown, which awards two champions - the Triple Crown Champion and a High Point Champion. There will be no Triple Crown Champion as no one horse won the first two legs this year. However, the futurity this Saturday will determine the High Point Champion.

All eyes will be on 8-5 morning line favorite Ivoriona to see if she will once again prove she's best. The daughter of Ivory James was the fastest qualifier of the trials run here two weeks ago. She posted a winning time of :19.763 in her 400 yard trial on a fast track. It was a very impressive two length victory over Tell Him Bye and Dtl Batter Up.

Ivoriona is owned in partnership by Mickey Johnson & Randy Hill. Randy Hill also trains the speedy filly.

"She is training good, better than she ever has actually," said Hill. "She got sick before the trials and a little banged up, but she's doing really good now and ready."

And don't be alarmed by the change from her regular rider Jorge Torres to Luis Vivanco.

"Jorge is riding in a Challenge Championship race (at Los Alamitos) Saturday," added Hill. "We discussed it, but I told him I was okay with him taking that one. Vivanco has ridden for us before and has done well. We're okay with using him in this."

Saturday's Grade 1, $94,700 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity is the scheduled ninth race on the card of 10. Approximate post time is 10:03 p.m.

Here is the field from the rail out with jockey and morning line odds:
