Dtl Samureye Gives Impressive Effort to Win Grade 1 Lone Star Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Saturday at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 28, 2017) - Almanda Racing's Dtl Samureye, with Jessie Levario aboard, put on his best performance Saturday night at Lone Star Park when it mattered most. The gelded son of SF Royal Quick Flash, who was the fourth fastest qualifier two weeks ago, was all business winning the $52,000 Lone Star Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity (G1). Trained by Alonso Neri, the flashy paint ran the 400-yard contest in :19.918 seconds, finishing ahead of Ojo Por Ojo by 1 1/2 lengths over a fast track.

Favorite and fastest qualifier Apollos Second Sign was only a nose back finishing third. Hotwire.com had the early lead, but he could not hold on, finishing fourth but ending up as the Speedhorse Triple Crown High Point Champion honoree. Mkp On the Wagon, Ima Good Time Charlie, El Diablo Chicken, Gb Star, and Js Apollo Six completed the order of finish. Third fastest qualifier and only other contender for high point champion, Bully Pulpit, was scratched from the race.

The $19,760 winner's share of the purse increased Dtl Samureye's earnings to $32,720. The win was his second out of six career starts.

Third choice in the wagering, Dtl Samureye returned $10.80, $5.60 and $3.40. Ojo Por Ojo returned $3.60 and $2.60. Apollos Second Sign returned $2.40 for show.

Live racing resumes Thursday, November 2, with eight live races scheduled. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race post time is 6:35 p.m.
