Golly Bret Wins Colts and Geldings Division of $20,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, November 5, 2011) - Sam Vasquez’ Golly Bret led the field gate to wire in the fifth running of the $20,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes, Colts and Geldings Division, on Saturday night at Lone Star Park.

Trained by Juan Antonio Ascencio and ridden by Ivan Arellano, the six-year-old chestnut horse completed the seven furlongs in 1:31.35 over a fast track. The Texas-bred son of Kador De Blaziet improved his record to 12 wins from 28 starts and the $12,000 winner’s share of the purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $97,483.

So Big Is Better, who was part of a two-horse entry, finished two lengths back in second, while Ayers, who was part of a separate two-horse entry, made up ground in the stretch to finish third by three-quarters of a length. Butch Cassidy LZP (coupled with Ayers), Status Symboll, Qjuick Sand PW (coupled with So Big Is Better), Dancing Al, TM Let It Be, Cholly Roger SWA and Omans Oro MHF completed the order of finish.

Golly Bret paid $10.60 to win, $4.40 to place and $3.60 to show. So Big Is Better paid $2.80, $2.20. Ayers paid $4.00 for the show.

TM Super Bird Repeats in Fillies and Mares Division of $20,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes

Even-money favorite TM Super Bird broke on top and was never seriously challenged before cruising to a four and three quarter-length victory in the fourth running of the $20,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes, Fillies and Mares Division, Saturday night at Lone Star Park. Owned by Teutsch & Hammad Partnership and trained by Elizabeth Brand, the five-year-old chestnut mare, who won the third running of this race last year, appeared comfortable and strong under a confident ride by jockey Cathleen Garner. Garner piloted the mare to a five-length win in the 2010 edition of the race.

The Texas-bred daughter of Burning Sand covered the seven-furlong distance in 1:33.07. TM Super Bird has now won eleven of thirteen starts and the $12,000 winner’s share of the purse increased her lifetime earnings to $96,033.

Uncorked attended the pace throughout and finished second, four and a quarter lengths ahead of third-place finisher Ms Dixie. Lori Anne, Lenas Hot Philly, Doranikaa, Effie Estes, Chnkira and PJ Miss Ruby completed the order of finish.

TM Super Bird paid $4.20, $2.60, $2.10. Entry-mates Uncorked and Ms Dixie both paid $2.80, $3.20.
