New 400-Yard Track Record to Close Out Mixed Meet at Retama Park

(Selma, Texas - Saturday, August 27, 2011) - When the big gray gelding came charging down the stretch in the $70,000 Sires Cup Derby, it was apparent Eyes Blew By You was going to dust the competition. No big deal. When the final time was posted, a gasp was heard from the crowd of 4,870. Eyes Blew By You had set a new Retama Park track record of :19.54 for 400 yards. Trainer Judd Kearl was thrilled with the new mark as it was a great night for Kearl. The Sires Cup Derby win moved him into a tie for leading trainer of the meet honors with Eusevio Huitron.

In the $130,541 Sires Cup Futurity, odds-on favorite A Game Dame was an impressive winner for trainer Guy Hopkins.

T.I. Cattle Company took leading owner honors after 3-to-5 A Game Dame won the closing night feature.

Leading jockey honors went to Luis Ramirez.

Thoroughbred racing returns to Retama Park next Thursday, September 1.

Retama Park patrons will be offered free clubhouse box seating to open the meet. For more information, call (210) 651-7000.
