Tiner's four-year-old filly upset favored Ms Riptideby a neck in the first of two trials for the $21,250 Merial Texas Distaff Challenge to rein as the fastest qualifier for the 400-yard stakes for three, four, and five-year-old fillies and mares set for Saturday, April 2, 2011. Trained by Judd Kearl, the brown daughter of Shazoom and the Strawflyin Buds mare Fast Jeans was ridden to the win in a time of :20.295 by Jose Alvarez.

With only five horses starting in each of the two trials for the final, all ten horses qualified for the April 2 race.
