First Royal Feature Tops $15,000+ Sam Houston Maiden Classic Trials at SHRP (Houston, Texas - Thursday, July 29, 2010) - The trials for the $15,000+ Sam Houston Maiden Classic for three-year-olds and up going 350 yards and were held on Thursday, July 29 at Sam Houston Race Park. Carl and Luanne Humphries' favored First Royal Feature lead all the way to an easy one lenght triump in his trial to emerge as the fastest qualifier in :17.758. The three-year-old brown gelding by Feature Mr Jess out of the This Snow Is Royal mare Lynettes Knockout earned a Speed Index of 96 for his effort. He is trained by Dwayne C. "Sleepy" Gilbreath and was ridden to victory by Jerry Lee Yoakum. Below is the full list of qualifiers for the final, which will be held on Saturday, August 14:
