Joy's Paradise Seeks to Stay Hot Sprinting in 15th Running of JEH Stallion Station Stakes at LSP on Saturday

(Grand Prairie, Texas - April 15, 2011) - Saturday’s 15th running of the $50,000 JEH Stallion Station Stakes, for accredited Texas-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward, to be run at six and a half furlongs over the main track, has attracted a field of 11.

Joy’s Paradise, owned by H. L. Southard, and trained by Karl Broberg, whose 63 wins in 2011 ranks him fourth in the nation among trainers, is the 5-2 morning line favorite.

A winner of seven of 21 career starts, the bay daughter of Taste of Paradise has displayed sharp form sprinting in 2011 while recording a 3-2-1-0 mark. Jockey Quincy Hamilton has the assignment.

“We made the decision to shorten her up and it’s really paid dividends,” said trainer Karl Broberg. “She’s doing really well coming into this race.”

This year’s renewal of the JEH Stallion Station Stakes has attracted a competitive cast, including the Bret Calhoun-trained Tin Top Cat, a multiple stakes winner who has won five of twelve starts for $273,524. Tin Top Cat finished second in the JEH Stallion Station Stakes in 2010.

Also of note, the Allen Milligan-trained Lady Giacamo. A winner of four of seven career starts, Lady Giacamo is a perfect three-for-three racing over the main track at Lone Star Park.

The JEH Stallion Station Stakes is scheduled as race eight on the 10-race program with an approximate post time of 4:51 CDT.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Dixie Dust (Alfredo Contreras, 15-1); Last Wager (Chris Landeros, 7-2); Lady Giacamo (Martin Escobar, 6-1); Blackie’s Crown (Jose Figueroa, 9-2); Sera’s Tunnel (Eguard Tejera, 30-1); Justasassycat (Larry Taylor, 12-1); Millenial Storm (Ricardo Hernandez, Jr., 30-1); Joy’s Paradise (Quincy Hamilton, 5-2); Tin Top Cat (Justin Shepherd, 10-1); Sahalie (Lindey Wade, 10-1), and Going Away Baby (Junior Chacaltana, 15-1).
