19th Renewal of the Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile Headlines Friday Night's Race Card at Lone Star Park

Grand Prairie, Texas (Thursday, April 23, 2015) - The 19th edition of the Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile for three-year-olds and up at one mile will be held Friday, April 24 at Lone Star Park, and it has shaped up to be an exciting contest. With a total of 11 horses entered this year, Texas Mile shares largest field size honors with the 2006 running.

The Texas Mile, the first leg of the Global Gaming Triple, is the featured eighth race of the nine-race program Friday night with a scheduled post time of 9:51 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the first race post time is 6:35 p.m.

As the first leg of the Global Gaming Triple, the Texas Mile has a possible bonus of $20,000. The GGT links the Grade 3 Texas Mile and the Grade 3 Lone Star Park Handicap with the Governor's Cup at Remington Park. The bonus is awarded on a point system for those horses that participate in all three races. Points are awarded as follows: five points to the winner, three points to second, two points for third and one point for fourth place finishers.

Texas Mile Contenders in post position order with morning line odds:

1 - Real Appeal Deal, 15-1 - This five-year-old gelding by Successful Appeal out of Fantastic Caroline, by Fantastic Fellow was claimed for $20,000 in March by owner/trainer Steve Asmussen, Lone Star Park's all-time leading trainer. Has one third from five starts this year, all at Oaklawn Park. He has won six races and $154,856 in 29 career starts. Gerardo Mora will ride.

2 - Evan's Calling, 15-1 -Owned by Lee Mauberret & Harold Heidingsfelder and trained by Brad H. Cox, this five-year-old gelding by Aragorn out of Thunder Calling, by Thunder Gulch won one of his only two starts this year, an optional claiming allowance at Oaklawn Park in February. Has won six of 22 career starts, earning $221,100, and still seeking his first stakes win. Jon Court will have the mount.

3 - Hip Four Sixtynine, 15-1 - This five-year-old horse by Southern Image out of Gentle Wave, by Mt. Livermore has one win and one third from three starts this year. The win was the Freemont Stakes at Delta Downs in January. The third place finish was at Oaklawn Park in the King Cotton Stakes in February. Has a career total of five wins from 23 starts and earnings of $215,827. Is owned by J-LU LLC and trained by Shane Wilson. Don Simington has the riding assignment.

4 - F J Uncle Vic, 30-1 - This four-year-old Texas-bred son of Uncle Abbie out of Let Her Reign, by Rampage has one win from four outs this year. He won the Stars of Texas Stakes last January at Sam Houston, beating entrant Texas Air. His career stats are 22-3-6-2, with earnings of $164,530. He is owned by Johnny Evans & Terry Eoff and trained by Eoff. Jockey Ernesto-Valdez Jimenez will ride.

5 - Rise Up, 9-2 - Trainer Tom Amoss and jockey Richard Eramia are teaming up again for this year's Texas Mile. The pair won last year with Grand Contender. Amoss conditions this four-year-old colt by Rockport Harbour out of Appenzell, by Johannesburg for owner Paul Van Doren. He is the most accomplished in the field and the only graded stakes winner going into the Mile. He won the $1 Million Grade 3, Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes at two in 2013. He has won seven of 16 career starts, earning a total of $957,315. This year's stats are 3-1-0-2. The one win coming from his last start, an optional claming allowance at Fair Grounds in March.

6 - Texas Air, 8-1 - Another Texas-bred contender who is trying graded stakes company for the third time, this seven-year-old gelding by Texas City out of Malaysian Air, by Mizzen Mast ran in both of Lone Star Park's Grade 3 races last year, finishing eighth in the Texas Mile and improved to sixth in the Lone Star Park Handicap. Texas Air has won seven times of 38 career starts for $231,774. He also comes into this off of a win in an optional claiming allowance at Oaklawn Park. Allen Milligan is the trainer for owner Paul J. Rigali, Jr. Quincy Hamilton will be aboard.

7 - Bronce Bellator, 30-1 - This five-year-old gelding by Repent out of Faster Tapper, by Pleasant Tap is looking for his first stakes win from three stakes attempts. He's got his work cut out in this. He has won twice from 18 attempts, bankrolling $46,830 from his efforts. He is owned by Bronce-Plamat Stables and trained by Eleuterio Martinez, Jr. and will be ridden by Alfredo Contreras.

8 - One King's Man, 4-1 - Claimed for $40,000 last year by owners Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey, this five-year-old gelding by One King out of Mist of Honour, by Honour and Glory is looking for his first graded stakes win. His only other graded stakes attempt was his last start in the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap, where he finished sixth. Two races back, he grabbed his first stakes win in the LA Bred Premier Night Championship Stakes at Delta Downs. His career stats read 24-9-7-9, with earnings of $424,304. Joe Sharp trains the gelding for the Ramseys, and Miguel Mena has the mount.

Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey are the owners of International Star, this year's Kentucky Derby contender with the highest points earned.

9 - Sr. Quisqueyano, 7-5 - Owned by Loooch Racing Stables, who also owns Kentucky Derby contender War Story. This five-year-old horse is by Exclusive Quality out of Royal Navy, by Polish Navy. He arrived at Love Field last week from Gulfstream Park in Florida aboard a Tex Sutton charter flight and has been acclimating quite nicely. Trained by Peter Walder, he placed in his last out in the Grade 3 Skip Away last month at Gulfstream behind a horse named Commissioner, who you might remember finished second in last year's Belmont Stakes. Two races back he ran against the likes of Shared Belief and Moreno in the Grade 1, Santa Anita "Big Cap". He has eight wins from 31 starts for his career, earning a total of $743,510. Jockey E. J. Zayas will ship in for the riding assignment.

10 - Holiday Mischief, 15-1 - This 5-year-old gelding by Into Mischief out of Darling Daughter, by Maria's Mon is looking for his first graded stakes win from two attempts. He was 7th in the Grade 2 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs and 6th in the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby both in 2013. He has won a pair of minor stakes in previous years. He has one second from two starts this year and six career wins from 24 starts. His earnings are $199,020. He is owned by Joe S. Offolter and Carter Thoroughbreds LLC and trained by Offolter. Lone Star Park's all-time leading jockey Cliff Berry will ride.

11 - Mal Guapo, 20-1 - J. R. Caldwell trains this recently claimed five-year-old gelding for Mongo Stables. A son of Into Mischief out of Jostlin Kate, by Fit to Fight was claimed for $32,000 at Oaklawn Park last month. This will be his first-ever stakes attempt, but he is coming into the race on a streak. He has won his last three starts, all in the claiming ranks. His career totals are $153,443 from 29-7-3-2. Jockey Iram Vargas Diego has the assignment.
