Favored Mr Money Bags Adds to His Multiple Stakes Wins by Taking the Texas Stallion Stakes at Lone Star Park

Grand Prairie, Texas (Saturday, June 1, 2019) - Roy W. Cobb's homebred Mr Money Bags, trained by Mike Neatherlin, was the lone horse in the finish line photo winning the $65,000 Texas Stallion Stakes, Stymie Division today at Lone Star Park. A three-year-old gelding by Silver City, Mr Money Bags gave a gate to wire front-running winning performance.

With Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez aboard, he set a well rated pace, controlling the action to win the one mile race easily by 11 1/2 lengths. Final time was 1:36.56 over a fast main course. Fractions were :24.30, :47.86, 1:11.98 and 1:24.10. Finishing second was Gold Buyer, 1 1/4 lengths better than third placed Moro Charlie. Mucho Dinero was fourth, with My Bling and Shotsoft completing the order of finish. Right Lane Markusz was scratched from the race.

Mr Money Bags was the favorite, returning $2.80, $2.10 and $2.10. Gold Buyer paid $5.40 and $3.60. Moro Charlie paid $5.00 for the show.

With the $39,000 winner’s share of the purse, Mr Money Bags improved his bankroll to $160,300. This was his fifth win from seven career starts.

"Everybody expected he couldn't go two turns, but we always knew he would," said winning trainer Mike Neatherlin. "He's a real smart colt."
