Favored Redatory Captured the Assault Stakes, Presented by Highlander Training Center, Sunday at Lone Star Park

Grand Prairie, Texas (Sunday, July 14, 2019) - Wrapping up the Stars of Texas Day action was an impressive performance by Redatory, who grabbed the victory by three lengths in the $50,000 Assault Stakes, presented by Highlander Training Center. It was the perfect nightcap on a great day of racing at Lone Star Park.

The switch back to jockey Rodolfo Guerra, who was aboard for Redatory's lone victory this year, the Richard King Stakes at Sam Houston in March, seemed the right move today as the teaming produced win number two for the four-year-old gelding by Oratory. In his only other start here this season, a state-bred allowance, Redatory was disqualified from second place to eighth for interference. Determined not to repeat that outcome again, he ran a perfect race, winning the one-mile Assault in 1:35.39 over a firm turf course.  Fractional times were :23.22, :47.26, 1:11.39 and 1:23.38.

Redatory is a homebred of James Wessel of Bulverde, Texas and is trained by former jockey Allen Dupuy.

The score today netted $30,000 for Wessel. Redatory's career earnings total is now at $156,624. This was his fourth victory from 14 career starts.

For the bettors, Redatory paid $7.20, $3.80 and $3.60. Second place went to Lethal Move, who paid $10.20 and $8.40. Right Lane Lukasz paid $ 16.40 for show. Bonjour Baby completed the Superfecta, followed by Easter Snap, Valentine Street, Highway Song, My Bling, Rumpole, A M Milky Way and Shotsoft. Texas Long Bow was a late scratch.

Attendance and Handle up from last year's Stars of Texas Day Program

Lone Star Park hosted 7,672 fans on-track today. An increase of 55.08% over the 4,947 who attended last year. The fans were playing the races, too. A total of $494,038 was wagered on-track today on the live program, compared to $381,659 wagered by on-track fans last year on the live program. Last year's program also carded 10 races compared to only nine on today's card, an increase of 29.44%.
