Ima Discreet Lady Stretches Out and Wires the Field in the $50,000 Fiesta Mile at Lone Star Park

Grand Prairie, Texas (Tuesday, August 11, 2020) - In the first of the four stakes on the card it was Raymond Todd & Duane Coker's Ima Discreet Lady winning the $50,000 Fiesta Mile, a one mile contest on the grass.

Stakes winner Ima Discreet Lady is normally a sprinter on the dirt. She won the Yellow Rose here in June at six furlongs and was second in the Valor Farm here in July, also at six furlongs.

A four-year-old Texas-bred filly by Discreet Lady out of a daughter of Too Much Bling, Ima Discreet Lady sure handled the extra distance with ease, winning by a head over Corluna and Shes Our Fastest. Favorite Herbs Love never got his heart into the race, finishing seventh out of the 10-horse field. Final time was 1:36.32, with fractions of :24.18, :48.74, 1:12.79 and 1:24.47.

"Yesterday we talked about it, and if I go on the lead easy, then let her go," said wining rider Ramon A. Vazquez. "Nobody came to fight [for the lead] with me, so I had a lot of horse and went for it."

Vazquez, with five wins over Stewart Elliott, will likely be the leading rider when the meet closes tomorrow.

"I actually didn't think she had much of a chance in here," said winning trainer Karl Broberg. "I just asked Ramon to lose the right way and put her on the front."

Mutuels returned $9.00, $5.40 and $3.40 on the winner. Corluna returned $4.80 and $2.60, with Shes Our Fastest returning $3.00. In fourth place was Empressive Reward, followed by Jewel Street, Gee She Sparkles, favored Herbs Love, Veilazig, Glitter Bright and Storm Traffic.

With the winner's share of the purse, Ima Discreet Lady increased her career bankroll to $257,100. Her record is now 21 starts, seven wins, six seconds and four thirds.
